Super Hero Products Part 2

Let’s continue with the part 2 of my super hero products round up following yesterday’s post, shall we?

On the make up front, a bold lip has been in trend for the past two years. An instant way to say Рhere I am, stronger than ever РYou can go bold red or bold berry, maybe burgundy, in my opinion all gives you a sudden pick me up and there is a shade for all skin tones.

Au natural base, just mascara and a bold lip to make a statement. Looking cool with very little effort, that sounds good to me ūüôā

Mac Plumful

Mac Plumful (Lustre) is the perfect shade for almost everyone and a good step up to the bold lip trend. Low maintenance on the lips, you don’t even need a mirror to put it on and that’s why¬†I¬†love it so much.

Nars AudaciousAnd a¬†fairly new launch of fantastic Nars Audacious Lipsticks. They have the most chic packaging, the best bold lip formula and the coolest shades of all times¬†(40 shades!!). I have only one yet (Bette)¬†as they’re quite pricey. Next time I’m feeling spendy I have my eyes on the¬†Audrey or¬†Vivien¬†or both, oh god!

One additional product that needs to be squeezed in here is the super hero lip balm. My savior on the coldest months – Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra Nourishing¬†lip balm in a pot¬†– If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing a lot! But the stick version is not as good, go for the pot! Will give you the softest lips over night.

And hands are mirror of our well being I think. They are all out there, with a lot of hand gestures, big part of body language. We need to show them love, sweet love.

Although I don’t remember the last time I had a salon manicure, I do my own manicure on a lazy Sunday evening. A very practical one ! Trim, file, hand cream to soften cuticles and nail polish. I always go with Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve. A real deal, does the job way better than any. If you have¬†very dry hands that you struggle¬†with, try this one, wouldn’t disappoint you.

bahama_mamaWhen it comes to nail polishes, I am in love with the brand РEssie РReally good quality, dries quick, lasts long, good shade selection. Bahama Mama is my all time favorite a warm, rich plum colour, Thigh High is a very festive option, Ballet Slippers is the best pale pink shade I came across and Jump in my Jumpsuit is the best classic red out there. Angora Cardi is a great one too, deep dusty rose colour. I have been asked what I have on my nails wearing for all these shades in random times and places so I believe they are unique in their own way.

As we covered nails and lips – easy way to add touch of colour to your day to day.

18951Let’s move on to the ‘body’. To my one and only body product that is perfect all year long, smells divine and keeps your skin soft without any additional steps after shower, no¬†need for a¬†body butter or moisturizer. And it is L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil. I highly recommend this one. Practical to have multi tasking products and that’s my hero since two years.. I’ve always been lazy on body moisturizing. So here we go, problem solved.

2957

I will mention one more product for hair and it is Sebastian Potion 9. If you happen to have curly, wavy hair that looks like you’re just out of bed 24/7 then this one can come handy. And it is not an aggressive styling product, it does good while helping to form your hair, taming the frizz. Thank you Potion 9, I appreciate you !

There we go! I hope you like this post and once more Happy New Year, full of laughter and joy with your loved ones.

See you next time, until then take care!

Hey there! 2015-Happy-New-Year-Wallpapers

2 years and a baby later, feels right to jump back to the blog vagon and start the journey once again with Hang on Beauty. It’s time to have New Year’s resolutions, right? So here is one of mine.. Let’s keep the hope up that it won’t turn in to the famous ‘ I will work out regularly this year’ kind of a resolution ūüôā

In a nutshell, I will take you through my favourites for the past two years that I’ve been away ideally in two parts to avoid a very long post. All the products that helped me to look descent when i had only two hours sleep per night and had to keep up this performance over the past two years… Waking up in the morning and drag myself to work (oh i adopted no cry sleep solution in case you’re wondering, no regrets, peace!).

Skin Care and Make up are your two best friends to cheat and give the impression to your employer that everything is under control.

Without further due, here are the super hero products that come to rescue each time;

Clinique Take the Day off Cleansing Balm : When you have no time but still you need to look fresh and healthy, cleansing balms are the best with a hot cloth/flannel added to the mix, you look younger in two minutes. They don’t dry your skin, on a tight schedule you can even skip your moisturizer and you get away with it.

This one from Clinique does the job, very accessible and affordable, no fuzz cleansing balm. Just take a minute to massage that in, wipe off with hot cloth and rinse with cooler water, you’re done. Removing it with a hot cloth also acts like mild exfoliator, how cool is that… It is essential for make up to sit right on skin.

Good for all skin types too, which is always plus as you don’t have to think if your skin is dehydrated, dry, combination or all sorts of crazy, it will be good for you, no matter the season. All about practicality folks, all about practicality!

–¬†¬†Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 – Finland¬†: A very forgiving, multi tasking product that you dab on your face with fingers¬†and here comes natural looking, dewy¬†skin and your SPF is done¬†with¬†it. When you have 10 min to get ready, and you have drier, dehydrated skin that other foundations don’t support, this one is life savior. Give it a go, I’m sure you will like it.

Nars Bronzer & Blusher Combo : Warm up your ghost face in no time that bronzer ‘Laguna’ and if you add a blush to look happy and healthy, Deep Throat is the best shade that lasts all day and gives you the most natural glow. No fuzz friends, no fuzz, just trying to look human and they are the best products that help me achieve the look – human –

Mac Lipstick in Patisserie : Best ever lip colour I handle at all times. Formula is Lustre and it is a typical your lips but better colour. I adore this one, day and night. Easy to put on, good lasting power, not drying on the lips. This is a well done lipstick that I appreciate on a daily basis. Highly recommended as I believe would suit most skin & lip tones.

Max Factor False Lash Effect¬†Mascara in Black : This is another product that gives good results with minimum effort, as I’m not a big fan to take the time and coat on mascara on my lashes. This one does the job in seconds, seperates, look full and natural, and you don’t have to wait until it is dry. I prefer drier formulas to wet ones when it comes to mascara. You need to get hold of the big fat brush at first but easy, peasy. Love it.

Well well, before I am carried away with my first post in years, let me put the dot here and continue with part 2 of my essentials on another fine day.

Until then, take care!

Happy New Year!

‘Au Naturale’ Autumn Chic Look

Tags

, , , , , , , , , , ,

No matter how old you are, September has this ‚Äėback to school‚Äô feeling in the air that¬†makes you feel like a student once again. And each Autumn,¬†I fall in love with the coming¬†trends, colors, styles, etc which¬†motivates me for shopping more than any other season –¬†even more than Spring awakening –

You can get away with more -made up- looks than you would in summer which brings the variety back in the game…

Inspired by a desigual scarf, recently added to my collection, I really enjoy the combination of plums with black these days.

Mac eye shadow in color ‚ÄėShale‚Äô is fantastic for day – drama. The shade is a mauve plum with subtle shimmer as described by¬† Mac. I lightly dust all over the lid with Mac 217 brush, to achieve right level of made up look during the day. Quite subtle and yet strong enough for Autumn day look. Stays on all day, not creasing and color pay off is quite good compared to some other colors by Mac.¬†¬†

I dot the black eye pencil by Laura Mercier along the bottom lashes for definition instead of wearing it old school way (lining waterline). Dotting along, achieves much natural look.

Mac Haute & Naughty mascara is a new discovery for my Autumn makeup bag. I enjoyed this two wands mascara in one. One wand to define, lengthen and the other is to give volume. I always use one wand at a time and mostly the one to define but would happily build it up with the volumizing wand for a nite out look. It doesn’t smudge, stays on all day. I will have to add Mac is not the best brand on mascara department however they pulled this one off for sure, I recommend to give this one a chance.

Cheeks supposed to be either plumy or a tone of pink which can go easily with plums, I have two blushes that I reach out these days: Mac Breath of Plum which is a matte plum color, adds the right amount of color to the cheeks and the other is Nars Deep Throat, a tone down pink color with subtle shimmer. Both works just fine with this look. If you have more yellow undertone to your skin, plums are slightly more flattering as cheek color than the pinks. Or so I feel.

Bronzer is adding¬†kind of¬†spicy look during autumn. Especially if you didn‚Äôt get much sun during the summer, it is always good to add warmth to your complexion.¬† Nobody wants to achieve the pale Casper look before December ūüôā I reckon. My one and only bronzer is Nars Laguna, which works perfect with light hand. I normally dust in C shape, from temples to underneath cheek bones and chin bone to the neck.¬†¬†

Lips.. Mac Syrup is a good color for this look. Or another choice is my Pot rouge by Bobbi Brown in Powder Pink which is more on the plum side with my lips own color see thru.

I saved the base for the last this time. As for the past two months, I am testing a new foundation from Vichy. Vichy Aera Teint Pure Cream foundation which is fantastic. Everything I ask for in a foundation and more.

The creamy texture is quite easy to blend. It is lightweight with medium coverage. Color match is good to my skin’s undertone (23 Ivory). Doesn’t oxidize and stays on approx 8 hours during the day without touching up. During the day, it wears off in a fresh way and leaving the skin supple, not drying. It is reasonably priced, widely available in pharmacies. No parabens. 25 SPF, good protection for office & city life. If you are still on the hunt for a foundation, definitely give this a go, to see if it will satisfy you as much as it satisfied me.

I, most of the days, use my fingers with min amount of product, to dab on to the center of the face and blend outwards, disappearing to nothing on the sides. Making sure it is well blended with the bronzer and blush on the cheeks…

I am also loving my Kiko nail polishes, which are perfect plum tones for my Desigual scarf. It is a pity, Kiko is not a widely available brand in Europe just yet cause they have a wide and quite affordable range of nail polishes. Good quality as well, no chipping up to 5 days with no top coat.

And that is my au naturale autumn chic look achieved. Hope you liked it. Wish y’all happy Autumn, back to school period. Until next time, take care!

Hang on Beauty … May 2012 Faves

Apologies for the long break within the month of May… I am afraid I will be still absent for another two weeks to come in June, heading to States (a¬†long cosmetics shopping list¬†in mind, from Maybelline baby lips to EOS lip balm, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Cream Compact in B20 to my go to mascara Maybelline Full n Soft, Becca Beach tint to Eye tint, etc). So excited with all the variety I will get my hands on!

May favorites on the other hand will have to be rushed in to a quick list as follows which definitely will be in my make up bag to States;

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Fresh and Hydrating Cream Compact in B10 (will be on the hunt for B20 in the States for summer months)

Nars Laguna bronzer, as I had the urge to look less pale than usual, May is over for god sake and only since a week, we have the sun shining where I live..

Dr. Hauschka Kajal Eye liner in 02 Elegante Soft Grey, just to define lower lashes softly, I apply on the roots of lower lash line and mostly on the outer corner to the approx. 1/3 of the way..

Maybelline Full n Soft mascara for the most natural, full lashes

My reliable Bobbi Brown pot rouge in Powder Pink for lips and cheeks to have the healthy glow..

And most of all I have to say special thanks to one product which healed my dehydrated skin completely;

Bioderma Hydrabio Rich Cream¬†– Amazing!!! Can’t say enough good things about this face cream.

Hmm what else?

I’m currently testing Shiseido Sun Protection¬†Liquid Foundation SPF 35¬†and¬†Smashbox Camera Ready BB cream with SPF 35, I will come up with the full review in both¬†products.

Random favorite of the month would be the chocolate bar that I am addicted¬†this month, just as a treat after lunch (which I shouldn’t¬†with summer holidays on the corner) –¬†Good old Bounty :):):)

Well, until next time, take care!

April 2012 Favourites

Tags

Another monthly favourites time!

This month I am loving my new foundation to begin with – Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup. This is a very light weight, sheer foundation which¬†is oil free, fragrance free and non acnegenic. Comes in many shades (16 shades from fair to darker complexions)¬†and most likely to find your match with the more neutral undertones .¬†¬†It is marketed as ‘See no makeup, feel no makeup’. The finishing is skin like, not dewy not matte either. Can be built up up to medium coverage. It doesn’t have SPF in it which can be pro for some and con for others. I personally prefer my foundation without SPF and to use SPF underneath as primer, moisturizer (something like Clinique city block is perfect). I’m impressed with the color match, finishing and how¬†long lasting this foundation is. Compared to Chanel Vitalumiere aqua, finishing and coverage is quite comparable however I prefer Estee Lauder Invisible Makeup Fluid because of the more friendly ingredient list. If you are looking for a sheer, natural make up for summer, I highly recommend this one.

Moving on to my spring/summer favourite blush РLush Nectarine from Laura Mercier. During spring/summer, I intend to wear white a lot.. Looks fresh, feels fresh and can be accessorized easily with any bright color and I find peachy make up quite good to go with. The second skin cheek colors by Laura Mercier is quite pigmented. I enjoy the effect I get in the morning with one brush stroke to each cheek, I feel awake, glowy.

I’m also loving my Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre as moisturizer/primer. It healed my dehydrated skin and helped a lot with the irritation occured due to dehydration/dryness. It makes a good primer under make up.

For eyes, I found myself reaching out for Avene Soothing Eye Contour Cream a lot. This is a light weight yet quite moisturizing eye cream formulated with thermal spring water. And for eye make up Nars eyeshadow duo – Tokyo was my go to this month. It makes a fresh look for spring, hardly there shades, combined gives a natural no make up definition to the eyes.

Random favorite of this month is Vampire Diaries. Again I should say I am old for the targeted audience, but can’t help and like all the young adult fiction books, series, movies, let’s say young at heart when it comes to supernatural ūüôā I really look forward to see what is to come in the next series. Don’t want to spoil for any of you so I will just mention Season 3 is good ūüôā Me likey!

I hope you all had a wonderful month of April. Until next time, take care!

Spring/Summer Look V.1

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

April was not much¬†of a spring month¬†this year. Rainy, miserable days with low temperatures, were not much fun I¬†must admit… But as of today,¬†spring is coming to town, hooray!¬†

I had the extra time in my hands this morning to get ready and so I thought about my makeup.. How I feel like today? I feel like Lush Nectarine ūüôā This is a Laura Mercier blush that makes you feel glowing inside out.

Here my make up goes;

I don’t have the perfect skin to begin with, active break outs and blemishes.. But still, not in the mood for a full coverage foundation. At the end of the day, I intend to do a fresh spring/summer look. So I put on my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (the regular one, as it comes also oil-free and illuminating) with fingers, on top of my moisturizer (Embryolisse lait creme concentre). It gives me a dewy look which I love at the moment. Perfect finish, very natural and healthy looking skin… Of course tinted moisturizer is so sheer to cover active breakouts or any imperfections.

The key to achieve a flawless face is to follow steps, instead of covering your face with a mask like foundation… Which brings the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer¬†in the picture. I concealed all the imperfections with this heavy duty concealer quickly and I achieved almost flawless, yet natural skin in minutes.. Brilliant!

Time to color up a little and rise & shine! I put on my Laura Mercier Second Skin Satin Cheek color in Lush Nectarine, which is a very vibrant peachy color, brings life to my face by the second brush touches my cheeks, I adore this brush for summer. And once again, I was amazed how blushes are changing the face, picking up quickly.

I needed a fresh look on the eyes. Nothing fancy, something just to even out my lid color. I used Brule by MAC, skin toned eye shadow, with a coat of mascara.

And for lips, I have this Nars lipstick in Barbarella to pair with my LM Lush Nectarine blush. It is a peachy nude color which is natural and fresh.

Here we go, groom the brows quickly and voila!

Until next time, take care!

Make up Brushes – All time favourites

Tags

, , , , , , , , ,

Well, if you asked me a couple of years ago, I had no idea about make up brushes… I was buying in to some brushes which are not branded and with reasonable prices from pharmacies. And in time, I started to believe in the brush application magic and was convinced to pay for good quality (I am referring to buy Laura Mercier or MAC make up brushes :))

For me it all started with a face kabuki from Laura Mercier to apply my Laura Mercier loose Mineral Powder SPF 20. I was amazed how easy and effective the application is. The coverage of the powder was exactly what I asked for and with just a few touches. Then I started buying brushes, having more confidence on what they will achieve for me :).

The second addition to my collection was another Laura Mercier Рsecret camouflage brush. This is a tiny, little brush for concealing which is working wonders with secret camouflage concealer, or with any other concealer in fact. Just a touch to the spot/blemish/scar or any other imperfection to conceal and maybe a quick tap with a finger tip, you are done.

When I started to follow blogs and Youtube channels, I was surprised to see how many brushes are needed to do the job… And I was amazed with the choise of brands out there. Although MAC is one of the best quality options and for sure easy to get, I was much more in to Laura Mercier still. I had a collection of brushes in years and which one of these I am using on a day to day basis since years would be as follows;

Shiseido Foundation brush: This is a very good angled flat top brush which is fairly new, released some time last summer. It makes the application of liquid foundations flawless and not bad to use with compact foundations either. I highly recommend this short handled foundation brush.

MAC 129 Sh Blush brush: This is another brush that I am using for ages, 6-7 years and still going strong. I use this short handled brush as a blush brush on every day basis and quite happy with the application.

MAC 217 Blending brush: This is a cult make up brush in the make up world as everybody is reaching out for this one when it comes to bleding brush. It can be used for under eye concealer or eye shadow blending. I personally use it for both purposes and like the results for both. I alternate this one with Laura’s Pony tail brush for eye shadow blending. Both are equally successful.

I finish with spot/scar concealing with Laura’s secret camouflage brush (above) and I don’t reach out for any other brush on a daily basis.

These brushes are for the quickest make up (10 min tops) every morning. I recommend all of them as they are with me for years and I washed them on a regular basis, none of them lost the shape or application success over the years.

The trick is to use a mild shampoo to clean them and rinse throughly. Let them dry on a flat position.

Hope this is useful. Until next time, take care!

Hello KIKO

Tags

, , , , , ,

Here is a mini review for¬†a new discovery –¬†an Italian make up brand – I came across over this long Easter weekend in¬†Italy.

Well, needless to mention how good is the food in Italy, we were up to lunch, looking for a Trattoria when I’ve seen¬†this nice, small, Mac like make up shop – KIKO.

First, I was attracted by the¬†wide colour range of¬†nail polishes¬†available and the price tag¬†was encouraging as well¬†(3.90 ‚ā¨). I picked up two mauve toned polishes and when I tried them back home, I was quite impressed with the quality of the polishes. Stays on well, dries quickly, what else? ūüôā

And I was checking blushes, lip sticks..  I really felt the good value for money. The prices are even cheaper than the drug store/high street products. When it comes to packaging, it is quite sleek, and the presentation of the products in store is tasteful.

If you are in Italy and come across a KIKO store, I recommend to have a look, I am sure you will enjoy the experience of this friendly priced Italian make up brand.

Until next time, take care!

Mini Haul – French Pharmacy

Tags

, , , , , , , , , ,

Yesterday, I went shopping ‘over the border’ to buy some French pharmaceutical cosmetics for the changing needs of my skin ūüôā

After watching a couple of videos in Youtube about French pharmacies by Lisa Eldridge, Gemsmaquillage and Fleurdeforce, I guess I was already making a list on top of my head.

Weird enough my skin is changing in to a dehydrated, sensitive and almost dry skin type from acne prone, oily/combination skin and this is quite a lot of change to adapt.

For starters I was in need of a different, more effective moisturizer to solve the dehydration. I got РBioderma РHydrabio Riche (for very dehydrated, sensitive skin) which was recommended by Lisa Eldridge in her latest video. I am really excited to give it a try and will be thrilled if it really helps with the dehydration that I am suffering lately. I will post a review after I test it for a month or so.

And I also got Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre which is another cult product in make up artists kit. It is a thick moisturizer which provides hydration for all skin types, repairs and nourishes the skin. There is a very light scent to it, hardly there, very much cream like. Leaves skin really soft and supple, helps with the feeling of tightness and discomfort. I have just used it twice and so far so good. I will also post a full review after testing for some time. Sounds and feels quite promising for the time being.

And I also got Reve de Miel lip balm by Nuxe which I am happily surprised with the quick treatment it provided over night. It smells divine, honey & lemon cheese cake scent with a rich texture, easily applied and leaves a matt finish on the lips for any lip stick application. With this on the go, I will probably have the softest lips ever. I highly recommend to give it a try. As this will be your #1 lip balm for sure.

And finally I have seen those famous Revlon lip butters are out finally in France. I grabbed a ‘Berry Smoothie’ colour which I didn’t like as much as I thought I would. There is a big hype since it is out in US a couple of months ago.¬†¬†The texture is OK, quite soft and butter like. The finishing is glossy and pigmentation of the one I picked was quite impressive. One coat of application gives a strong lip colour. Staying power is not bad either. However I am going through matt lips stage and probably that is why I wasn’t convinced with this one. I will update/ post a review in a while if I change my opinion about lip butters.

Well, this post was just to share with you my mini French Pharmacy haul with a little insight of the products. Please let me know if you would like to see a full review on any of these ūüôā

Until next time, take care!

Ashes to Ashes – NARS

Tags

, , , , , ,

Ashes to Ashes is a single eyeshadow by Nars which I adore for a warm look all year round… Yesterday, I found myself reaching for it out of blue and felt so good when I applied it after a long time. I think I was so much in to purples and plums I forgot my other favourites.

‘Violet brown with shimmer’ – that’s how it is described in Nars’s web page but the swatch and the description is not doing justice to the shade. I recommend to go and check at the counter to get the right feeling about Ashes to Ashes. I believe it would suit blue and green eyes pretty well, making them pop¬†and when it comes to brown eyes, it is adding a very natural warmth and depth.

It is a versatile colour which can be used in many ways for many occasions, one man army ūüôā The quality is brilliant like all other Nars eyeshadows. Butter like, almost satin finish with subtle shimmer. Stays on very well for hours without creasing.

I hope this will convince you to go and check in person¬†– Ashes to Ashes ūüôā and become hooked from the first swatching moment.

Until next time, take care!
