autumn, back to school, bobbi brown pot rouge in powder pink, desigual, laura mercier black eye pencil, MAC Breath of Plum, mac haute and naughty mascara, mac shale, MAC Syrup, nars laguna, plum, vichy aera teint pure cream foundation
No matter how old you are, September has this ‘back to school’ feeling in the air that makes you feel like a student once again. And each Autumn, I fall in love with the coming trends, colors, styles, etc which motivates me for shopping more than any other season – even more than Spring awakening –
You can get away with more -made up- looks than you would in summer which brings the variety back in the game…
Mac eye shadow in color ‘Shale’ is fantastic for day – drama. The shade is a mauve plum with subtle shimmer as described by Mac. I lightly dust all over the lid with Mac 217 brush, to achieve right level of made up look during the day. Quite subtle and yet strong enough for Autumn day look. Stays on all day, not creasing and color pay off is quite good compared to some other colors by Mac.
Mac Haute & Naughty mascara is a new discovery for my Autumn makeup bag. I enjoyed this two wands mascara in one. One wand to define, lengthen and the other is to give volume. I always use one wand at a time and mostly the one to define but would happily build it up with the volumizing wand for a nite out look. It doesn’t smudge, stays on all day. I will have to add Mac is not the best brand on mascara department however they pulled this one off for sure, I recommend to give this one a chance.
Cheeks supposed to be either plumy or a tone of pink which can go easily with plums, I have two blushes that I reach out these days: Mac Breath of Plum which is a matte plum color, adds the right amount of color to the cheeks and the other is Nars Deep Throat, a tone down pink color with subtle shimmer. Both works just fine with this look. If you have more yellow undertone to your skin, plums are slightly more flattering as cheek color than the pinks. Or so I feel.
Bronzer is adding kind of spicy look during autumn. Especially if you didn’t get much sun during the summer, it is always good to add warmth to your complexion. Nobody wants to achieve the pale Casper look before December 🙂 I reckon. My one and only bronzer is Nars Laguna, which works perfect with light hand. I normally dust in C shape, from temples to underneath cheek bones and chin bone to the neck.
I saved the base for the last this time. As for the past two months, I am testing a new foundation from Vichy. Vichy Aera Teint Pure Cream foundation which is fantastic. Everything I ask for in a foundation and more.
The creamy texture is quite easy to blend. It is lightweight with medium coverage. Color match is good to my skin’s undertone (23 Ivory). Doesn’t oxidize and stays on approx 8 hours during the day without touching up. During the day, it wears off in a fresh way and leaving the skin supple, not drying. It is reasonably priced, widely available in pharmacies. No parabens. 25 SPF, good protection for office & city life. If you are still on the hunt for a foundation, definitely give this a go, to see if it will satisfy you as much as it satisfied me.
I, most of the days, use my fingers with min amount of product, to dab on to the center of the face and blend outwards, disappearing to nothing on the sides. Making sure it is well blended with the bronzer and blush on the cheeks…
I am also loving my Kiko nail polishes, which are perfect plum tones for my Desigual scarf. It is a pity, Kiko is not a widely available brand in Europe just yet cause they have a wide and quite affordable range of nail polishes. Good quality as well, no chipping up to 5 days with no top coat.
And that is my au naturale autumn chic look achieved. Hope you liked it. Wish y’all happy Autumn, back to school period. Until next time, take care!
